5 Strategies To Scale Your Business To One Million, Safely & Sustainably

Scaling your business could be exciting yet scary. I prefer a safer approach that uses organic marketing & value-based partnerships.
5 Strategies To Scale Your Business To One Million, Safely & Sustainably

If you want to hit 1 million in revenue without ad spend, you’ll need a bold, aggressive organic marketing strategy, such as focusing on crafting an irresistible offer that focuses on delivering results, making the pricing competitive (Cheaper than most competitors out there), forming win-win partnerships on the go and learning how to tap into your own media assets for maximum gain.

Key takeaways:
  • Bundle your services, price them lower than the competitor's, and grab as much market share as you can.
  • Give away your expertise by offering free workshops in the beginning to build authority across the room.
  • Optimise all your social media profiles to reflect what you do, and set them to public for both personal and business accounts.
  • Identify and collaborate with as many businesses that share your audience without a direct conflict of interest.
  • Implement a simple SEO strategy on your website, while keeping AI visibility in mind.

It took me 5 years to achieve it, and I wish I could have learned this much earlier.

Step 1. Commit Your Results For The First 4 Clients

When I started, I made a promise to my first 4 clients:

I would bring every skill set I had to help them with their online marketing.

Instead of separating services for different pricing like running paid ads, building a website, creating landing pages, or building webinar funnels, I told them…
"Give me a retainer, and whatever you need, I will do it for you."

"Give me a retainer, and whatever you need, I will do it for you."

This approach not only showed my dedication to delivering results for them but also made my offer hard to resist, given the value they get for the price they pay.

As a result, I generated 4 sales in the very first month of my business, each with a $2,500/month retainer, for a total of $10,000/month in cash flow to sustain myself.

Here’s the lesson:

  • When you’re just starting out, try this: offer a price that makes people stop and say, “Wait, I get all that for this amount?”
  • It’s a great way to grab market share, especially if you’re delivering the same (or even better!) value than the big players.

Step 2. Learn how to teach from 1 to 100

Being able to teach and present isn’t just useful, but it’s one of the fastest ways to build authority fast, get noticed, and open doors you never thought possible.

I have generated over 500k in revenue a few years ago through speaking, training and workshops while running my agency full-time.

Here’s how I get started. I’d walk right up to corporate training providers, introduce myself, and say,

“Let me give your team a free training session, no strings attached.
If you think I’m good enough to help your clients, great!

If, after my training, your team doesn’t see results after implementing my strategies, you owe me nothing.”

Thinking back, I think that was a bold move that opened doors and built trust fast for me.

Remember, when you teach, not only are you adding value to people's lives, but you are also making yourself the go-to person. The "Authority".

Step 3: Have a strong social media presence

First, review your personal and business account profiles. You need to rewrite your bio and about page to clearly explain what you do.

Here’s how my LinkedIn Bio looks (screenshot). Next, get professional headshot photos and publish them across different social media channels (even those you're not active on).

It also helps way to anchor how your friends and potential customers remember you whenever you post something online.

Because of this, I got more projects and speaking opportunities through friends and followers who worked in those multi-national companies.

Start posting and engage with the people you already know online (likes and leave meaningful comments).

Post to at least 2 different channels (Your most active one) and monitor the reach and impressions for each. People will remember you more than you think!

Step 4: Team up with as many partners as you can who share your target audience

Collaboration-And-Partnerships

Who are the businesses that share the same target market as you, but don't have a conflict of interest?

To me, the videographer, the graphic design industry, and education companies are among them.

Currently, I'm working with more than 10 educational partners to promote my workshop, which has enabled me to train over 1,500 students across the APAC region since 2021.

Step 5: Implement a simple SEO strategy for your website

Website-SEO-Implementation

SEO is one of the best ways to drive high-quality traffic and leads to your business online.

What you need is a simple-looking professional website (like this one, I'm using Ghost.org), or a vibe-coded website (like mediafunnel.co).

Start with a few important pages, such as the home, about us, services or product pages, and the contact us page. You can always expand it later.

Be sure to optimise this 3 things constantly, and you shall see results within weeks.

  • Make the website load smoothly and quickly (Within 3 seconds)
  • Ensure the website is mobile-friendly and responsive.
  • Make sure all your webpages have relevant keywords and content throughout.

Working on SEO could also improve your visibility in AI platforms like ChatGPT, Google Overview and Perplexity. Work on your SEO strategies, and keep AI visibility in mind.

Final thoughts

It's easy to start a business. It's difficult to grow consistently; scaling it to the next level is even more challenging.

At different stages of revenue, you will need to upgrade your mindset, decision-making, and perspective to achieve breakthrough results.

So, if you want to start a business, get out there, meet people, and connect with those who’ve already made it big.
